Exactly!! its important for parents not to be over protective about their kids, Kids should be allowed to do mistake and learn.
Only when you fall, you learn to get up and build the confidence that, you can do that again!! -
Thanks Shruthi, Yes you are right. Being over protective definitely kills the aspiration for growth in some cases.
There is always a possibility that one could hide behind the approach that I donot want my kids to face the same difficulty as me… it is the boundary that needs to be figured out.

I can so relate to it,
especially with girls
we are never allowed to decide for ourselves..
as kids its always parents and then after marriage its husband and in-laws
and when they get out its their kids who decide for them.
Only when we know that we are ready to deal with the repercussions of our own decision, we would have the confidence to make decisions or else,it the same as always we look for others to decide for us
so that blame can be put on them
later when things go wrong
we see this a lot in a team where there is always high pressure and some imp decision has to be taken at critical times. -
Interesting Perspective Shruthi…
One of my friends – Mr Robinson also sent across an article he read in Deccanherald: http://www.deccanherald.com/content/369433/digital-disorder-driving-lives-away.html -
While it is extremely easy to confuse my argument to be against technology, it is really not so – technology no doubt eases a lot of the effort one could put in – it is really doing what we do well that is the crux of my argument.

Leave alone being over-protective, modern parents do not make the kids understand the value of hard work and money!! They literally bribe the kids, you score this much or do this, I ll buy you that!! This has a deep negative impression on the kid's mind and he begins to think materialistic. Modern parents do not also inculcate the spirituality too!! The kid grows up, may achieve and succeed but will never feel the completeness in his/her life!!

Exactly, parents should stop being over protective and let the kids do their own mistakes and learn from it. Only when you fall, you learn to get up.
